This picture brought back a lot of wonderful memories. I first saw my
wife Joan Covert in Jan 56 at Carolina Drugs. She came into the store on
a Sunday afternoon about this time with two of her friends. I thought
she was the most beautiful girl that I had ever seen. She was 15 and I
was 18. I asked her name as she left the store and I tracked her down.
We never had a formal date before I entered the Air Force in Feb 1956 but she
would get her mom to drive her to Leaksville and they would just about always
get “caught” by the light at the drug store and I would always be outside
leaning against the light pole that you can see in the photo. Joan would
face forward but cut her eyes so she could see me. We married in June 58
and now have four wonderful children and 7 grandchildren.
