WAR HEROINE'S DESCENDANTS FORM DAR
CHAPTER
May 25-31, 1928
Twelve lineal descendants of Mrs. Karen Happuch Turner, Revolutionary War heroine, have formed the George Reynolds chapter of the Daughters of American Revolution in
Leaksville.
Karen Happuch Turner is renowned for riding horseback from her home in Maryland to Guilford County to nurse her son back to health from injuries he sustained in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. Her descendants, who founded the DAR chapter earlier this year, went to the battleground this week to view its historic markers, including one for their ancestor.
Their DAR chapter is named in honor of George Reynolds, a distinguished citizen and planter of Rockingham County.
